Freelance on and offshore wind consultant since December 2011. Contracts include working on the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre for Vattenfall Wind Power and working for Scottish Enterprise on their onshore demonstration sites for offshore turbine prototypes.
Previously managed delivery of the £18.5M publicly funded Blyth Offshore Demonstrator capital assets (substation, grid connection, consent and offshore platform). Engaged with existing & new entrant offshore turbine supply chain demonstrators who wish to trial their next generation turbines in time to feed into Round 3. A uniquely challenging project with an accelerated delivery program whereby the offshore development & consenting process is ongoing simultaneously with the design & build of the onshore assets, & traditional post consent activities such as offshore geotechnical works are progressing ahead of consent submission.
Joined EDF-Energy Renewables on secondment from Atkins in 2007 and latterly became an employee. Worked with the Teesside Construction Manager & for the Head of Offshore to finalise FEED study, shortlist turbine supplier and prepare OPEX & CAPEX investment case. Prepared elements of the investment proposal including benchmarking CAPEX and OPEX; multiple site identification, ranking and CAPEX estimation of preferred O&M base. Also evaluated electrical infrastructure tenders; managed relations with Tees Port, evaluated and shortlisted preferred turbine supplier; worked with selected turbine supplier to determine certification and finalise scope and supply terms; worked with broker to agree cover and deductibles for contractors all risks cover and all operators insurance, and worked with french counterparts on determining preferred O&M stategy and cost estimating.
On the developer side I managed fisheries disruption claims and payments (with Danbrit), wind data collection (via met mast and Lidar), and asset management of the met mast and lidar (inc all HSE, fall arrest, structural etc inspections etc).
With over 17 years post graduate experience, i spent 10+ years in consultancy prior to joining EDF-ER. In consultancy, I delivered EIAs, environmental assessments & permitting advice for projects with capital spends of £10million- $8billion. Projects included wind farm due diligence for 2 UK offshore wind farms, & 6 onshore windfarms for HSBC, an EIA for a wind farm near Doncaster; the complex EIA for the 100MW Teesside Offshore Wind Farm; technical work for 2 other offshore wind farms & 3 onshore wind farms; an Energy from Waste EIA in SE England, & managed or directed 10 tidal or wave energy EIA projects in the UK.
Nathalie has extensive overseas contract experience (Sri Lanka, Tanzania, USA, Hong Kong, China, Senegal, South Korea, Netherlands) for clients such as Asian Development Bank, HSBC, Esso, ODA (now DFID) and the Ramsar Convention Bureau. I have published 23 publications including 8 book chapters and 4 books.
